We’re talking about none other than the recently introduced Dr. Ratio. Just like his name implies, he ratios his opponents into oblivion. Dr. Ratio has crazy abilities that make him a great single-target DPS character but also being capable of dealing moderate amounts of AOE damage as well. However, if you are interested, you might want to buy Honkai Star Rail Oneiric Shard with U7BUY!
Disclaimer
Quick, get him while he’s hot! Well, he’s always going to be hot, but he’s not going to be free forever and his run will end with update 2.1, but we don’t have a date for it yet. If you’re reading this article after patch 2.1 hits, your best bet is topping up your Honkai: Star Rail account with U7BUY and getting him once he’s on rotation again!
Dr. Ratio Overview
Dr. Ratio is given to the players as one of the Free Rewards for Honkai: Star Rail’s first Anniversary event. He’s a 5-star unit. Yes, you’ve read that correctly – an absolutely free and absolutely cracked 5-star unit that can clear the hardest content in the game – and we get him for free from Mihoyo. He has amazing animations, and a great voice-over and if you’re a new player during this event – you can get quite a boost to your account by obtaining Dr. Ratio.
Dr. Ratio’s Abilities
This character has one of the best Skills for single-target damage in the game, with one of the best names for a skill I’ve ever heard of Intellectual Midwifery, which ties into his Talent: Cogito, Ergo Sum, and here’s how it works.
Whenever Dr. Ratio uses his skill, he has a fixed 40% chance to use a follow-up attack that deals Imaginary damage equal to 236% of his ATK thanks to his Talent: Cogito, Ergo Sum. This damage, however – isn’t quite as “imaginary” to the opponents he hits. However, this isn’t where the fun stops. For every debuff the enemy has – the chance for this additional attack increases by 20%, meaning that with only three debuffs, the follow-up attack has a 100% chance of being used.
But we’re not done yet. Two of his traces have the potential to increase his damage even further beyond.
As you can see, Dr. Ratio can get up to 15% Crit Rate and 30% crit damage only from one of his Traces, while he can also lower his target’s Effect Resistance by 10% for two turns which means those nasty debuffs will be ever so slightly easier to inflict…
Dr. Ratio’s Best Teams
As mentioned above – Dr. Ratio thrives when his opponents have a lot of debuffs on them. As such, his best teams will be those that can inflict a lot of debuffs on the enemies.
Team 1
This team, which is a bit hard to play but has incredible pay-off if you can keep your enemies broken – consists of:
- Topaz & Numby because she’s obviously the Queen of Follow-up attacks
- Welt because he can inflict multiple debuffs on the enemy while also starting the fight off with them debuffed already
- Ruan Mei because she’s a great overall support character who can keep enemies in a Weakness Broken state
This team consists of all 5* units and might be a bit on the expensive side, which is where Team 2 comes into play. urdu techy
Team 2
The F2P friendly team consists of:
- Pela as she can lower the enemy defense which counts as a debuff, paired with the [Resolution Shines as Pearls of Sweat] Light Cone which has a 100% chance to inflict Ensare can count for 2 easy debuffs
- Guinaifen applies DoTs (Damage over Time effects) which, if you’re wondering, do count as debuffs and she can apply Firekiss which amplifies the damage enemies take
- Gepard can freeze enemies (Yep, that’s pretty much all he can do as a debuff)
Final Thoughts
Dr. Ratio is a great unit and an amazing free starter character for anyone who has just begun playing Honkai: Star Rail. He can be a top-tier single-target damage dealer who focuses on follow-up attacks with the correct teams and setups and can shine even in F2P-friendly teams as in the example above.
